Merry Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas to all readers of this blog!

It is the time to believe in things, such as, hope, love and compassion, that makes us "human."  It is the time to recall the letter to Virginia, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus."

"He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence... The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world." -  Francis P. Church, first published in The New York Sun in 1897. (The New York Sun)
It's time to think of little kids struggling with things that do not belong in childhood, like cancer.  And, if possible, send a contribution to your local pediatric cancer hospital, St. Jude's Children's Research Hosp., or Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Going local is often more gratifying and has immediate impact-
One way to find the local needs is to search for (children cancer nonprofit) and add "your_city_name" on Google News.  If you are outside US, search for "charity" instead of "nonprofit," particularly in UK.  Remember it is never too late to contribute.
-Peace.
